One things Czech people know how to do is to have a good
time. Rarely do I see sloppy drunks
spill their way into the streets, vomit everywhere, yell at the top of their lungs, and then slump their way
into a tram, hoping and praying to make their way
home.
Sometimes I
feel like the Czechs may have a little too much fun. One thing I wish I could change is the sheer amount of smoking
here in the Czech Republic. I admit it – I’m
biased. I am allergic to smoke, and it makes my sheer existence a living hell anywhere in Central Europe. But that
doesn’t mean that it isn’t a nuisance to other people,
too.
In America we are strong believers in individual rights. I
hail from one of the largest smoking populations, New York, however our laws
about smoking are very strict. There is absolutely no smoking in public facilities.
You have to be 21+ to even purchase a cigarette in New York City. So suddenly
being thrown into an environment of smokers was a small tragedy for me.
I can’t expect everyone to stop smoking, but if I had a
magic wand, Prague would be able to breathe a little easier.
