Midterm!

Good afternoon!

  • You have these 3 assignments.
  • Write them all during our class. Don't forget to publish all of them on our blog.
  • The deadline is 15:20 today. Posts published later won't be considered to be done.
  • If you have any technical or other problems, don't hesitate to tell me as soon as possible.

A) My Media in 2025

It is a regular day in 2025. You wake up in the morning and start your everyday routine before you leave for work. Describe your "media diet" that day. Write in a colorful language how the media will be different from now. Or not. Will be still a printed paper around? Or not? Will you read it? How the television will change? And radio? What about web? Do you think you will still use the social media like Facebook, Twitter etc? How often? Will there be the media brands like The New York Times, CNN or PBS? How will change their ownership? Use your fantasy and be creative, but at the same time try to be realistic and consider today's trends in the media.

  • Write 300 - 500 words.
  • Try to format the text for the web (don't forget to use paragraphs etc.)
  • Don't forget to write a good and "catchy" headline.

B) How will you improve the Czech republic?

Imagine that you have supernatural powers and can do miracles. Try to imagine one specific thing you will do to improve the quality of life in the Czech republic. It could be really anything. Use your fantasy! For example, is there anything you would import from the US to the Czech Republic?

  • Write 200 words
  • Write it as a newspaper column.
  • Use a short "newspaper" headline, max 30 characters

C) Is there anything you want to know about the Czech people?

Next week we will do an online poll. We will ask the Czech people anything we want. Preferably something what we don't know. The poll questions might concern the Czech national character ("are you more optimistic, or pesimistic?", "do you like more Poles, or Germans?"), politics ("are you happy to be the member state of EU or NATO?), life style ("do you like more holidays at the sea, or in the mountains?", "do you prefer curry, or pizza?") or anything else. Don't use these examples! Ask something you are really curious about!

  • Come up with at least 3 questions
  • The answers could be in different formats: short text, choices (A,B,C), preferences (agree, don't know, disagree), etc.
